The Design Engineer community call was a blast!

This message will land in the inbox of 978 people. It’s surreal to imagine that the next one might be sent to over 1k! The Design Engineers Club is growing so fast… What started as a spark of an idea quickly became one of my most important missions: to build a space for all creative minds—regardless of field, experience, or expertise—to connect, share, and learn together.

We had our first Community Call last week, and it was a blast! It was so great to chat face-to-face with everyone who joined. A special thanks to Texz for sharing his amazing portfolio and his workflow with Cursor to reimagine Magic Portfolio to his vision. We’re wrapping up an exciting week with @Zsofia as we prepare Enroll, our beautiful, simple waitlist app, for its public launch. Enroll is a special project for me—not only am I once of its creators, but I’m also using it for my projects. It’s been instrumental in helping me grow the Club on social media, attracting the right audience to join us.

We’ve also updated the Magic Portfolio landing page and the starter! We adjusted the proportions, refined the look and feel, added new features like thumbnail images in the blog list, and fixed a few bugs.

Our projects are growing fast, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Each day, we get to work on what we love, surrounded by an amazing community of creatives. Building an open-source project also means we need to carve out a path for monetization, and we’re committed to doing it in a way that doesn’t impact our resources or products negatively.

We’re currently setting up GitHub sponsorships, which will offer a great way for companies to support us and be featured on our brand-new sponsors page. (Yes, the awesome animations on that page are coming in the next Once UI release!)

Of course, we also hope some of you will find Enroll useful and subscribe. For those who simply want to support us, we have a fantastic merch store with high-quality items! I’ll be featuring my favorite products at the end of my newsletters throughout the holiday season, so you can treat yourself or find a special gift for someone you love.

I’m using a large desk mat like this one to protect my desk from scratches—and, well, from the occasional coffee spill. It’s been doing a fantastic job! After two years, it still looks brand new. The design features my little baobab bonsai (which, admittedly, looks a bit less impressive in real life, especially now that it’s lost all its leaves as autumn set in). Check it out here—I think it would make an amazing gift for a gamer sibling!
